LC3 THE LEATHER COMPOSITE

LC3 is a fully bio based and waste based nex gen material.

The composite is made out of leather left overs as a reult of cutting and processing industrial leather - that usually causes 40% waste. We have saved the material and have found new meaning and an extension of its life by creating a high quality composite. A perfect marriage with the other biomaterial component caleyda, that makes it able to shape it. Caleyda is processed by bacteria that turn waste water sludge into a bio plastic (phbv). The result is a fully future bio- and circular material to be applicated in future interior products, furniture, accessories and many more, Years of development and testing together with a team of experts has made it possible to create LC3 and we are proud of it! The collaborative partners Material Sense LAB, Ams Institute, Ahrend, TU Delft, NPSP, Paques Biomaterials, investigated in Life cycle analyses to suit circular systems and regulation and in haptic qualities and expression of the material for interior use. We are now on the look out for applying it in new valuable application (fields and markets) and partners to co-develop it further according to specific requirements and processing.
