Circulair composiet voor interieurproducten
Het composietmateriaal LC3 is gemaakt van restleer, dat ontstaat bij de verwerking van industrieel leer, waarbij 40% afval ontstaat. We redden dit materiaal, maken er een nieuwe grondstof van en combineren het met het biomateriaal phbv ā dat wordt verwerkt door microben die via speciale technologie afvalwater omzetten in bioplastic. Het resultaat is LC3, een stevig, herbruikbaar, toekomstbestendig biomateriaal dat circulair kan worden toegepast in bijvoorbeeld interieuraccessoires, meubels en nog veel meer.
Eigenschappen & Voordelen
De mechanische eigenschappen zijn vergelijkbaar met polypropeen (PP)
Mogelijkheden voor circulaire ontwerpen en systemen en voor aankomende regelgeving (zoals UPV) is inzichtelijk gemaakt door Life Cycle Analyses
De kwaliteit van leer diende als voorbeeld om het composiet te ontwikkelen met een vergelijkbare hoogwaardige haptische kwaliteit en uitstraling. Ā Ā
Voor deze serie samples is uitsluitend gewerkt met biologisch gelooid en chroomvrij gelooid leer ā een voorwaarde om het eindmateriaal volledig afbreekbaar te maken.
ToepassingenĀ & Samenwerking Na jaren ontwikkeling en testen met ons team van experts, zoeken wij nu naar partners om LC3 verder te ontwikkelen voor toepassing in nieuwe markten. Circular composite for interior products
The composite material is made from leather scraps, which are produced during the processing of industrial leather, resulting in 40% waste. We salvage this material, turn it into a new raw material and combine it with the biomaterial phbv ā which is processed by microbes that convert waste water into bioplastic using biotechnology.
The result is LC3, a sturdy, reusable, future-proof biomaterial that can be used in a circular manner in interior accessories, furniture and much more.

ā¢Ā Opportunities for circular designs and systems and for upcoming regulations (such as EPR) have been substansiated by Life Cycle Analyses
ā¢Ā Ā Ā The quality of leather served as an example for developing the composite with a comparable high-quality haptic quality and appearance.Ā Ā
ā¢Ā Ā Ā Only organically tanned and chrome-free tanned leather was used for this series of samples ā a prerequisite for making the end material fully biodegradable.
